29th July 2011 Burda Singapore Pte. Ltd., a subsidiary of Hubert Burda Media Germany (www.burda.com) agreed today to acquire all the assets of CR Media Pte Ltd. "This is the first acquisition we have made in Singapore, a very important regional media hub, and we hope not only to continue to expand the current business, but acquire additional businesses in the magazine and digital space", said Peter Kennedy, regional managing director for Burda Asia. CR Media is the publisher of Prestige magazine in Singapore and Hong Kong and together with its licensed titles in Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia, is one of the top players in the luxury magazine space in Asia. "We began talking with Burda sometime ago, having been approached by a number of international media companies. We felt that Burda, as a very successful German media company with proven success record in Asia and plans to aggressively develop our brand globally, would be the perfect home for our titles in the future" said Jane Leong, founder and owner of CR Media. In addition to Prestige, CR Media publishes August Man in Singapore and Malaysia with plans under Burda to further publish this title in other international markets. "What for us is very interesting is that this will be the first time we have taken an Asian magazine brand with the intention to publish in Europe and our other international markets.
